EP Stump Grinding grinds stubborn stumps below grade, so your yard can finally move on.
We don’t charge you like every stump is a brand-new job. Once the grinder is in your yard, every extra stump costs less than the first. Neighbors, too: if the people next door have their own eyesore, bundle your jobs and you’ll both save. (Peer pressure has never been so productive.)
Got a tree stump in your Boston yard?
We grind it below the grass, haul the chips, and leave the spot ready for seed.

Let’s be honest about that stump in your yard.
You’ve mowed around it. You’ve tripped over it. Your brother-in-law calls it “character.” You once tried to make it a planter, and now it’s a stump with a sad mum on it.
It’s time.
That stump isn’t harmless, either. Old stumps attract carpenter ants and termites. They sprout ugly suckers. They eat up space you could be using for grass, a garden, a patio, or literally anything other than staring at a stump.
Why Old Stumps Cause Trouble?
A stump looks harmless. It is not. It is like a dead tooth in your yard. It sits there and slowly rots.
EP Stump Griding makes it disappear. We show up with a grinder built for exactly this job, grind the stump down below the surface, and leave you with level ground you can actually use.

The Materials We Use.
We use carbide teeth to cut through tough wood, including oak, maple, and frozen stumps, and replace them regularly to maintain sharpness. As we grind the stump, the wood turns into chips that can be reused as mulch in garden beds after sitting for a season. We use screened loam, a clean, dark topsoil, to fill the hole and help prevent the ground from sinking over time. To restore your lawn, we can apply a New England grass seed mix containing fescue and rye, selected to handle shade and cold temperatures. If you prefer an immediate green finish, we can also install sod over the area. Throughout the process, we use ground mats to distribute the machine’s weight and help prevent ruts and damage to your lawn.
